My story has made me realize I haven't got nearly enough flour stored, and our meals are seriously lacking without it. While we (humans) may not really need it, it does help tremendously as a filler, as well as keeping things interesting.

Oh, kati, kati, kati... lol. I am so NOT normal. Currently, in real life, I have a freezer in the garage, which I cover with my 'butcher board'- a sheet of plywood cut to fit, when I butcher. I have a portable electric oven, which I use during those few hot weeks in the summer. It's sort of like a really big crock pot with trays in it. I have a woodstove in the garage. A fire pit outside. A smoker. For me, creating an outdoor kitchen is just a matter of using what I have in different ways.

I don't currently have a dehydrator. I dry herbs in the sunroom, chives and blueberries in the car. My cold room storage is good for root crops, melons, and squash. I think the only thing I'd be tempted to dry dehydrating would be peppers, as my pepper crop is kind of early and sporadic. I currently freeze them a couple at a time, but without a freezer we'd have to dehydrate to keep them for winter.Wendyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11557512606416161272noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4801806904348236141.post-45730633567746314962013-09-17T19:59:23.813-04:002013-09-17T19:59:23.813-04:00Wheat precious wheat! Now, my question is (you know I have them) when you have an abundance of vegies to preserve...will you create an outdoor kitchen to can? Do youhave plans to dehydrate any produce? In this area I can put a tray of potato's in my car window in the hot sun and it takes about 8 hours. Other than using jars for storage our humidity is so high things rot
Katididshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15568618127371786808noreply@blogger.com
